Easier setup, faster testing: Voltavision presents the KSP-600 high-performance contacting system for prismatic cells with opposing terminals

With the new KSP-600 cell contacting system, Voltavision presents a powerful and comprehensively scalable solution for testing prismatic battery cells with opposing terminals. Developed for demanding test conditions in the automotive, battery, and e-mobility industries, the compact KSP-600 impresses with its high continuous load capacity, reproducible test results, and tool-free cell assembly.

Optimized handling for greater efficiency and flexibility in the test lab

The new contacting system features a special design that makes optimal use of the test chamber, while the thermal-ergonomic design ensures high temperature homogeneity – delivering highly accurate, reliable, and reproducible results. The cell is inserted into the test channel from the front and, thanks to a sophisticated folding mechanism, is fully contacted by closing the front contact element. The entire process requires no tools and takes just a few seconds – ideal for laboratories with high cycle rates and varying cell chemistries. Voltavision also offers custom-made systems for individual cell sizes.

The KSP-600 is initially installed and wired in the test chamber. The system can then be converted for different cell sizes in a matter of moments with just a few simple steps. Intelligent cable routing within the profile ensures tidiness, while an integrated connector strip on the top of the device and high-frequency connector ports on the rear of the individual channels simplify the temporary connection of additional sensors, Ethernet, and other devices, especially in confined spaces.

Sophisticated technology for reliable measurement results

In the standard version, the modular design of the KSP-600 allows up to 24 test channels per system; with a correspondingly sized chamber, even more channels are possible. The current carrying capacity is 600 amps per channel, but can be optionally increased to up to 1200 amps by connecting individual channels in parallel.

The KSP-600 has been consistently designed for high measurement quality and flexibility. The temperature is measured directly at the cell terminal, and the voltage and sense measurements are also taken exactly at the contact point. The spring-loaded contact element, which is also available in a gold-plated version to prevent oxidation during long-term tests, automatically adapts to uneven cell terminals. This guarantees even contact pressure, while the thermal-ergonomic design ensures homogeneous temperature distribution in the chamber. The cell support has an opening for pressure relief so that compressed air can be safely discharged. The system is optionally available with additional air cooling, which actively cools contact points with integrated fans and ventilation slots to enable even higher currents without overheating.

As a leading testing specialist for cells, modules, and battery systems, Voltavision develops its own testing equipment to ensure the best possible test results. With the KSP-600, the Bochum-based company offers a robust, adaptable, and powerful solution for the reproducible testing of prismatic cells in a wide range of demanding test scenarios.
