Pina Earth – Converting Vulnerable Monoculture Forests into Climate-Resilient Mixed Forest Ecosystems

In 2022, our operations generated a carbon footprint of approximately 355 tonnes of CO₂. To offset these emissions and actively contribute to climate protection, we chose to support the Pina Earth climate initiative. Through the reforestation of 27,172 square metres of land in the Altmark region of Germany, climate-resilient mixed forests will be established over the next 30 years. These forests are expected to sequester approximately [exact figure] tonnes of CO₂ – roughly equivalent to the annual emissions of [comparison value].

Beyond effective carbon sequestration, this project also promotes biodiversity in the region. Rare bird species are regaining valuable habitats, while numerous insect species benefit from the newly established flowering plants. Strengthening root systems helps stabilise the soil and protect it from erosion, which in turn supports groundwater protection and improves soil fertility.

By investing in Pina Earth, we are making a meaningful contribution to the sustainable development of the Altmark region. The project creates valuable habitats for both people and nature, helping to secure a liveable future for generations to come. The restored landscape will not only enhance biodiversity but also increase the region’s attractiveness and contribute to strengthening the local economy.
